Equipment Operator

POSITION PURPOSE:

 

The purpose of an equipment operator position is to safely and efficiently operate heavy machinery and equipment used in various industries, such as construction, mining, agriculture, and logistics. Also to ensure equipment is well maintained, work area is kept clean and free of debris/trash and unprocessed aggregate material is free of debris/rubbish.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Grease various mechanical components on the crushing plant, once per week.
  • Check fluid levels on crusher, daily.
  • Record and maintain crusher operation hours and water flow meter logs daily.
  • Record and maintain log of aggregate materials crushed/processed, daily.
  • Clean crusher screen(s) daily.
  • Pick out debris/trash from unprocessed aggregate material.
  • Pick out debris/trash from stock pile(s) of processed aggregate material.
  • Keep work area and break room clean.
  • Report all safety and health hazards to the Supervisor and take necessary actions to establish an immediate temporary control of the hazard until permanent control can be established.
  • Maintain and utilize all PPE provided.
  • Attend and participate in all required safety trainings and meetings.
  • Learn and comply with all safety rules, policies and regulations applicable to your work.
  • Work safely in a manner as to ensure your safety as well as the safety of those around you.
  • Report all damages, excessive wear, and service issues to your supervisor immediately.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or other Management staff.

 

 

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

 

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

 

  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise, transport up to 50 lbs.
  • Possess physical strength, good hand-eye coordination and endurance.
  • Communicating with supervisors and peers.
  • Ability to perform duties in a warehouse and/or field setting, with regular exposure to sun, heat, humidity, and dusty conditions.
  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as sitting, driving, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Stamina and flexibility to maintain a steady work pace.
  • The ability to use hands and fingers and have manual dexterity.
  • The ability to climb ladders and have no fear of heights.
  • The ability to read equipment manuals.
  • The ability to use proper PPE (personal protection equipment).
  • The ability to pass respirator fit test.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

 

Education:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Experience:

 

  • Valid Hawaii State Driver’s License

 

OTHER

 

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by WOA from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.   Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

 

Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with WOA rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation. Employees who violate WOA rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
