Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced On-Call Cook to join our dietary team. This position is on-call, meaning shifts will be assigned as needed to cover staffing shortages, absences, or busy periods. The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving meals that meet both nutritional guidelines and residents’ preferences while ensuring a clean and safe kitchen environment.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook meals according to dietary guidelines, recipes, and residents' special dietary needs.
Ensure food is prepared in a timely manner while maintaining high quality and presentation standards.
Maintain proper food safety and sanitation procedures in compliance with health regulations.
Assist in meal planning and food inventory management as needed.
Ensure kitchen equipment is used and maintained properly.
Collaborate with dietary aides and other staff to ensure smooth meal service.
Follow all facility policies and procedures regarding food handling and kitchen safety.
Qualifications:
Previous cooking experience in a healthcare, institutional, or commercial kitchen setting preferred.
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures.
Ability to follow recipes and prepare meals in accordance with dietary guidelines.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must be available for flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.
