Bicycle Repair Technician

A Bicycle Repair Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining bicycles to ensure their safe and efficient operation. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and excellent customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspection and Diagnosis:

    • Examine bicycles to identify mechanical, electrical, or performance issues.
  • Repairs and Maintenance:

    • Perform repairs on various bicycle components, including brakes, gears, chains, pedals, wheels, and forks.
    • Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as lubricating chains, adjusting gears, and inflating tires.
  • Component Replacement:

    • Replace worn-out or damaged parts like tubes, tires, brake pads, cables, and derailleurs.
  • Assembly and Customization:

    • Assemble new bicycles and install accessories or upgrades according to customer preferences, such as lights, bells, racks, and suspension systems.
  • Test Riding:

    • Conduct test rides on repaired bicycles to ensure proper functioning and alignment.
  • Customer Interaction:

    • Provide customers with accurate estimates of repair costs and timeframes.
    • Assist customers in selecting appropriate bicycles or accessories based on their needs and preferences.
  • Workshop Maintenance:

    • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of tools and parts.
    • Keep detailed records of all work performed and manage inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Stay Informed:

    • Stay updated with industry trends, new bicycle models, and advances in bicycle technology.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Proficiency:

    • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical knowledge of bicycle components and systems.
    • Proficient in diagnosing and repairing various bicycle types, including mountain bikes, road bikes, hybrid bikes, and electric bikes.

    • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex bicycle issues.
