Pier Support

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Pier Support position requires you to be responsible for ensuring the efficient preparation, movement and documentation of vehicles for subsequent transportation to various locations. You will work closely with a team and support staff to ensure complete inspection, recording and labelling to ensure that vehicles are delivered on time and in excellent condition. Vehicle handling involves parking vehicles in straight lines, spaced evenly, follow all parking procedures. Use of handheld devices to thoroughly document the condition of vehicles in various stages of the processing.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Drive vehicles within the pier for queuing and processing for transport.
  • Follow all pier regulations and company policies while driving.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles.
  • Ability to operate vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential issues with vehicles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with others effectively.
  • Report any issues or concerns with vehicles to management.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Requires maintaining a reliable work schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performing the essential functions, this position is required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions.

  • Maintains consistent awareness during movement of the vehicle and documenting.
  • Able to use tablets or other data collection devices for documenting and recording of vehicle condition and staging for transportation.
  • Able to learn and use interpersonal skills relating to good customer service.
  • Does not abuse vehicles through poor driving habits, reporting all damages to your supervisor immediately.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned

  • Compliance with safety protocols is of utmost importance for anyone working in a Pier Support position.
  • It is essential to adhere to all documentation, record keeping and safety regulations, wear appropriate personal protective equipment, and undergo proper training.
  • By prioritizing safety, workers can prevent accidents and injuries and promote a safe and productive work environment.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This job will require you to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • You may be required to work in a noisy environment.
  • This job requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, and drive for extended periods of time.
  • You will need to be able to lift and move heavy objects, up to 50 pounds.

 

WORK HOURS

  • Start 6:30am-3:00pm Monday-Friday,
  • 40hr week +/-, actual hours can vary.

COMMUNICATION DEMANDS

  • Requires visual, verbal, and written communication with supervisor, coworker, and others.
  • Read, write, and comprehend in English.
  • Must be able to communicate using tablets, phones or other devices as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the island of Oahu
  • Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and regulations
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Education/Experience/Endorsements/Passes

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a similar role preferred1-2 years’ experience (preferred, not required)
  • Valid TWIC (plus)

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Valid Hawaii driver's license
  • Clean Driver History Record
  • Must have reliable transportation to work.
  • Requires maintaining a reliable work schedule.
  • Must be able to pass a background check, drug screening and obtain a TWIC Card
