As a Driver (Type 4) you will be responsible for safely operating a Type 4 truck while driving through commercial and residential communities following a time sensitive route. Your role provides safe, reliable, friendly, and consistent service for our customers who rely on our services. Your daily performance will be observed by customers and the public. Your job helps to keep streets, neighborhoods, and communities safe and clean.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Safely operate a Type 4 Vehicle in accordance with Occupational and Safety Health Act (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT), and WOA company requirements along designated commercial or residential routes. Mechanically collect municipal solid waste, recycled material, and/or construction/demolition waste and take it to the various disposal sites on Oahu.
Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle using utilizing standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report); notes all issues on DVIR form for corrective review/repair.
Immediately report any unsafe situations or service calls to Operations Supervisor or Dispatch before attempting service. Notify of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.
Leaves the customer’s location clean and free of debris. Positions containers on the customer’s property in a manner that ensures containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic.
Monitors vehicle loads to detect loose debris, using mirrors or direct sight and/or listening for debris falling onto truck during dumping operation.
Ensures bins are completely and securely covered before transporting away from customers’ site.
Flexibility to adapt professionally to changes as needed and good problem-solving skills to address unexpected issues.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to the Essential Function, you will perform a combination of the following Supportive Functions daily.
Ability to use tablet and mobile phone applications, use GPS to locate service addresses and complete required documentation. Maintains and submits a daily route sheet and delivery tags.
Completes and submits customer tickets.
Tracks all applicable activity with a tablet, issued by the Company.
Works closely with Dispatch to improve route efficiencies and identify problem or unsafe accounts. Notifies supervisor of issues requiring management action.
Able to follow safe operating practices, including lock-out/ tag-out procedures to ensure truck is inoperative when working in the truck body.
Participates and cooperates in all scheduled training, briefings, and meetings as required by Operations Supervisor, Safety Manager or GM.
Work as a team, while helping and interacting respectfully with each other.
Performing all other duties as assigned
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITY:
Compliance with safety protocols is of utmost importance for anyone working as a Type 4 Driver.
This heavy equipment is powerful and potentially dangerous if not operated correctly. It is essential to adhere to all safety regulations, wear appropriate personal protective equipment, and undergo proper training before operating company vehicle. Regular maintenance checks and inspections should also be performed to ensure the equipment is in good working condition.
By prioritizing safety, workers can prevent accidents and injuries and promote a safe and productive work environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of what an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
This position requires full range of bending at the waist and full use of all extremities and back muscles.
Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as sitting, driving, climbing into and out of truck, lifting 50lb+/-, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
The noise level in the work environment will range from moderate to extreme.
May require working under minimal supervision.
Occasional exposure to inclement weather, exposure to dust and outside working conditions.
WORK HOURS
Start time is 5:30am, 6 days a week, Monday-Sunday, 40hr week +/-, actual hours can change. Note: Start time represents a general guideline, workdays & hours worked will vary based on operational needs.
Must be willing to work weekends, holidays and overtime based on Operational needs.
COMMUNICATION EXPECTATIONS

Knowledge of the island of Oahu.
Qualifications:
Must have a valid Class 4 Drivers License
Must be able to operate a manual transmission truck.
Must have a clean driving record.
Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
Must be at least 21 years of age High school diploma or equivalent
REQUIREMENTS

Clean Driver History Record
Must have reliable transportation to work.
Requires maintaining a reliable work schedule.
