Cafeteria Assistant

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY: To assist, support, and work closely with the Cafeteria Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Practicing Catholic in full initiation with the Church preferred

· High School education or equivalent required

· Be able to measure, cut or otherwise work on food items with great precision

· Must be able to prep food products using standardized food preparation techniques

· Operate computerized register during serving hours when applicable

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Assists cafeteria manager in preparing the meals (breakfast, lunch, and salad bar daily) for students and staff

· Sets up serving counters with plates and serving utensils before meals

· Rotates dates of snacks and refill snack cart

· Maintains general cleanliness of kitchen and eating area

· Collects and washes dishes, cooking utensils, pots and pans, and puts them away

· Rinses empty cans and bottles and bags them for recycling

· Takes garbage bags to rubbish bin

· Cleans and sanitizes work areas, counters and tables, kitchen equipment, such as food containers, trays, serving utensils, cooking ranges, refrigerators

· Receives and checks deliveries of food and other supplies

· Stores foods properly in refrigerators and in storeroom

· Keeps storage area in good order

· Serves menu items, conscious of food safety and quality

· Serves lunches to students and staff during serving hours

· Receives payment from students and staff for lunches

· Follows school procedures to safeguard the health and safety of the children

· Becomes knowledgeable of the emergency file and procedures

· Knows the fire and evacuation procedures and assists in the supervision of required drills

· Holds a current first aid certificate and CPR certificate

· Knows the procedures of reporting child abuse

· Documents all accidents and any emergency by the end of the day as it occurs

· Reports all accidents and emergencies

· Performs other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned by the Cafeteria Food Service Manager and/or Administration as necessary

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Constant bending, twisting, lifting, pushing, and pulling

· Constantly standing

· Normally does not work at heights above ten feet

· Normally does not lift any object weighing more than 50 pounds

· Be able to open and close lunch tables

Employment Type:
Part Time

Compensation:
$15.00 to $16.00 / Hourly
